The foundations of the Castlegate James business were laid with the establishment of James and Son Grain Merchants Ltd in 1850 and Victoria Grains Store Pty Ltd (VGS) in 1923 with the business selling grains to farmers in Victoria. Today, the company is steered by a progressive leadership team that draws upon years of specialised industry experience, and a combined vision to lead the way in future feed technologies.

James & Son has a premium range of horse feeds sourced from the best grains by our commodity traders around Australia. These Premium Horse Feeds are carefully formulated by nutritionists to suit the needs of all equine categories. James and Son Premium Horse Feeds have 5 main pre – mixes, these include High E Horse Mix, High Pro Horse Developer, Accomplish Horse Pellets, Performance Horse Mix and Conditioner. The Elite Horse & Pony Pellet is due to be released in December 2011, with more products due in 2012
Our Horse feeds are made in a dedicated horse mill and being accredited a Feed Safe manufacturing plant, we place the highest priority on feed safety for your horses. James & Son is a member of the Stock Feed Manufacturers Council of Australia (SFMCA), which is a national industry association that represents manufacturers across Australia. The SFMA developed FeedSafe as a quality assurance accreditation program for the Australian stock feed industry.

BLITZTHEMCALDER wins at Tabcorp Park

Congratulations to Trainer, Ross Payne and connections of BLITZTHEMCALDER in winning the Group 1 Empire Stallions Vicbred Super Series 2 y/old Colts and Geldings Final at Tabcorp Park, Melton on Friday.
We wish to thank Ross for feeding his classy 2 year old High E and wish him all the best of success in the future.

Well Sydney Royal Easter Show is over and we are back home preparing for the Showcase of Showjumping at the Polo Fields at Richmond (21 and 22 April) and the Weekend of World Cups at SIEC (28 and 29 April).
We have been planning for Sydney Show since January, planning what competitions to take the horses too and their jumping programme. We decided to miss applying to be part of the Nations Cup Australian Team at NZ Horse of the Year Show as I could only take one horse and had another 5 horses at home to be keep fit and compete with.
Shane Rose Wins in NZ
Shane Rose won the individual competition at the international horse trials held in NZ. It's an event for selection to the London Olympics. The team were also victors in the senior competition.
And.... His horse Taurus won best presented.. On J&S Feeds
